Biography
Walter was born in 1876 to John Straw and Hannah Sneap. His mother died in 1886 aged thirty-one when Walter was aged ten. Walter married Mary Ann Bradley during 1902 and was living in Fritchley at the time he would have enlisted. No service details have been discovered ther than he was on the 1920 Roll of Honour listed as a Private.

There are several Private Walter Straws in the Medal Index; two with the Foresters and one with KOYLI. Other Walter Straws are listed as Drivers.
