SOUTH NORMANTON & PINXTON
Mr and Mrs Jonathan Stinson, Waterlane, South Normanton, have received a postcard from their second son, Private Levi Stinson, Sherwood Foresters (Pioneers), who was reported missing on 27 March, stating that he is wounded and a prisoner of war at Limburg and is going on well. He joined up in September, 1914, and has been nearly 3 years in France. This is the first time he’s been wounded. He has two brothers in the service – Sgt G Stinson (Lincolns) and Lance Corporal B J Stinson, who has been wounded four times and is now on the staff at the Northern Command Depot. The three brothers were over on leave together in February. That was the first time of seeing one another three years. Before enlisting Pte L Stinson and Sgt G Stinson were employed at the new pit of the Pinxton Colliery Company. Lc Cpl B J Stinson was employed at South Normanton Colliery.
