Arthur John Lees was born at Parwich in the June quarter of 1882. His wife Annie Eliza Fox was the older sister of Francis Fox and William Fox who are both on the Roll of Honour.

A newspaper report refers to Private Arthur J Lee, Sherwoods, receiving the Military Medal.

Another Crich soldier to get the Military Medal is Private Arthur J Lee, Sherwoods, of Bull Bridge. The distinction was gained as far back as 21st of March for exceptional bravery during signalling operations. He was afterwards personally congratulated by the King. Private Lee was over on leave a fortnight ago.
