Biography
Wilfred and Ernest moved with their family to Matlock and then to Burnley. He was working as a part-time cotton weaver when he enlisted at Barrow-in-Furness. He served in Flanders and was killed in action in 1918. He is listed on the Arras Memorial and alongside his brother on the war memorial in Holy Trinity Church, Burnley

Wilfred Johnson joined up in April 1916 and went on active service in the following September. Previously he had been a weaver, and had also worked in a Barrow shipyard. He was on the Claremont L.M. Church roll of honour
