Biography
Joseph, like his father, was a house painter before the start of the war. He served in France with the 10/11th Highland Light Infantry and was killed in action, in France, in 1918. He died in action 22nd March 1918 aged thirty-two. He is honoured on the Arras Memorial, along with eight other Crich soldiers, Arras commemorates almost 35,000 servicemen from the United Kingdom, South Africa and New Zealand who died in the Arras sector between the spring of 1916 and 7 August 1918, the eve of the Advance to Victory, and who have no known grave. He is also remembered on the war memorial at Crich. He was unmarried,
