Biography
London-born Cyril moved to Crich as a boy when his father became licensee of the Black Swan Hotel. Cyril moved to London after passing civil service exams. Enlisting in May 1916, he was mobilised in Feb 1917. He was a clerk for the Ministry of Labour, married Kathleen Jowett in 1925; June qtr (Marylebone reg district) and had a son and a daughter, relocating to his wife’s native Darlington. In the 1940s, the family moved to Felixstowe, Suffolk.
