Charles Gregory born in about 1888 came from Nether Heage and worked as a framework knitter. Although there was a request for his deferral this was not accepted he joined the Army 19 November 1917 agd thirty-one.
Driver Charles Gregory 188232 Hut P23, X Battery R.G.A. Morn Hill Camp, Winchester.
He was still at Morn Hill Camp in January 1918.
After the war he returned to Lea Mills where, over the years, he became a manager.
